Just back from Bali . . .
Just back from Bali. I’ve been victimized!
Just a little STORY and a TIP for attractive web content.
This morning, two coffees and two hours later, I finally made it through my email. I just got back from Bali (in pic).
Sadly, apps and software platforms will SELL YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. They buy and sell addresses from similar companies to drive sales.
Which makes sense from a purely sales perspective. But this behind-the-scenes method is seedy. And I know exactly WHO did it.
I recently tried a HIKING TRAILS APP.
Now, I get PROMOTIONS and NEWSLETTERS about running. One was about marathons, which I do not do.
I bet their user agreement stated they had the right. So, sure, tisk tisk on me for not reading it.
But most people don’t. Instead, they trust.
And when broken, people get annoyed. And annoyed people retaliate!
So, before unsubscribing, I REPORT SPAM. That’s how it shows up for me — unwanted email.
And that’s just how it is …
TRUST matters.
For WEB CONTENT …
I believe there’s a GOOD way to post, to engage folks, to invite connection and grow a RELATIONSHIP with your audience.
Keep it natural, respectful, valuable, real, honest, and mutually beneficial.
As you figure out your content, emails, web page, offers, and all, think about EARNING THAT TRUST.

Grab topic Kenn. A pain I’m sure.
I’ve taken to using the ‘hide my email’ function Apple offers. It gives you a separate email for each list you sign up to (sounds like a lot of work- but it’s quite easy) which then forwards to your real email. If they sell the email, you then know who it was but it also allows you to disable that email and stop the spam.
I’ve also reported companies in the past who don’t put an unsubscribe link on the bottom of their email and don’t take me off the list when I’ve asked.
There’s also lists of well known spammy lists that you can sign them up to if revenge is the dish you want to serve up!
