Content Marketing for Coaches – 3 Tips for Attracting Clients Online
Content marketing is my way of eliminating awkward selling. Good content shows what you do without being annoying, attracts the right clients, and wins trust fast.
Having been online for over 20 years, the best clients I’ve had are basically pre-sold on me. Just a call or two to figure out what they are aiming to do with their websites and marketing, and we get to it.
It feels more like project planning (very valued by my clients) than selling, oddly. 😉
Using content to gain new clients has been my original intention — and I’m happy to say that it’s been the outcome. After all, the web gives buyers lots of info and options.
Let me share three things that made content marketing work for me …
1 – Be out there regularly.
People trust (and therefore seek help from) those they know. Showing up consistently makes you a familiar face. It says you’re active. It makes you memorable, and mentionable.
2 – Go where the clients are.
Yes, clients are everywhere. But as you go everywhere, you’ll find some places work better than others. So think about “where” to go, and over time, assess, change, and adjust to reach more clients.
3 – Talk about things your clients want to know about.
I know, dumbly obvious. But old habits, fun ideas, and the lack of planning often lead coaches to share content that’s not interesting “to the client” — and thus you don’t get much attention.
Well, those are the principles at work. The practicals (what you do) are up to you to figure out, test out, to discover.
Are your online efforts attracting clients?
If not, maybe it’s time you and I had a little chat 😉
